As a Transportation Structures Technologist, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing preliminary and detailed structural design drawings for bridges, culverts, and other transportation structures.
  • Assisting project managers and engineers in the functional and detailed design (CADD design) of transportation structures.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary team members, including engineers, planners, architects, and technical and administrative support staff.
  • Performing inspections of existing bridges, culverts, and other transportation structures.
  • Preparing reports, proposals, contract specifications, presentation materials, and calculation of quantities.
  • Potential for construction inspection and field review for new construction or rehabilitation of transportation structures, including shop drawing review.
  • Working within assigned project budgets and schedules.
  • Business travel upon request.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Diploma from a Technical or Technologist program in Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within an engineering consulting firm.
  • Eligible to be certified as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.).
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD, experience with Civil 3D and MicroStation would be an asset.
  • Bridge inspection experience (formal training in OSIM Inspection is considered an asset).
  • Knowledge relevant to Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure drawing standards considered an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Interest in working both in an office and field environment.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
