Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Plumber to join our team at St. Paul's Hospital. As a Plumber, you will be responsible for installing, altering, repairing, and testing plumbing systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with local and provincial building codes and regulations.
About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to work in a public healthcare setting, supporting our clinical teams and ensuring the smooth operations of facilities. You will work collaboratively with our Facilities Maintenance team to provide essential maintenance services, including plumbing duties.
Responsibilities
- Install, alter, repair, and test plumbing systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with local and provincial building codes and regulations.
- Perform operational and safety risk assessments, arrange work schedules, and assemble supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Repair and/or replace items such as pipes, valves, and fixtures, using methods such as cutting, bending, threading, and assembling.
- Carry out the plumbing preventative maintenance program, inspecting piping systems and other plumbing fixtures for repair and maintenance needs.
- Inspect and test cross connection control devices, using equipment such as water columns and differential gauges.
- Maintain an inventory of supplies, equipment, and tools, and complete related reports and records.
- Install, test, maintain, and repair natural gas lines, appliances, equipment, and accessories, in accordance with the British Columbia Gas Safety Code.
Requirements
- Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Plumber, Class B level Gas Fitter's License with an electrical endorsement recognized by the Province of B.C.
- Valid Certificate of Competency as a Cross Connection Control Specialist issued by the American Water Works Association, British Columbia Section.
- Two (2) years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
