About the Role

Kit Recruitment is seeking a skilled Equipment Maintenance Specialist to oversee the installation, repair, and maintenance of machinery at a unionized food manufacturer. The ideal candidate will ensure smooth operations and safety standards while mentoring technicians and operators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance staff (Level 1-5, Stationary Engineers Class 2 & 4)
  • Mentor technicians and operators to troubleshoot mechanical, refrigeration, and electrical issues efficiently
  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on critical equipment (boilers, refrigeration, rendering machinery)
  • Oversee the preventive maintenance program and ensure compliance with safety and food safety standards (CFIA, GMP, HACCP)
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and manage inventory
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OHSA and WHMIS regulations
  • Collaborate with production teams to minimize disruptions and resolve equipment-related issues
Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience in maintenance management in a food manufacturing environment
  • Experience with refrigeration systems, boilers, and centrifugal equipment (e.g., rendering equipment, pumps, conveyors)
  • Refrigeration B Ticket (preferred), Ontario Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (433A) Certificate (asset)
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of PLC programming, food safety, and regulatory standards (CFIA, GMP, HACCP, OHSA, WHMIS)
  • Tow Motor License (preferred)
Benefits

Six-figure salary + bonus, Monday-Friday day shift, benefits from day 1, and three weeks' vacation. Estimated salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year.
