About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled MongoDB Database Manager to join our team at CA001 Marsh Canada Limited. As a key member of our Information Technology team, you will be responsible for managing our MongoDB databases, ensuring their smooth operation, and providing expert guidance to our team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage priorities and assign work to team members to ensure efficient database operations.
  • Work closely with our offshore team to ensure seamless handover of work and maintain database redundancy.
  • Provide hands-on experience and guidance to team members on resolving configuration and performance issues.
  • Support MySQL and PostgreSQL in addition to MongoDB, ensuring a comprehensive database management approach.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of distributed replica sets to ensure continuous database availability.
  • Implement disaster recovery and business continuity processes to minimize downtime.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest MongoDB versions and upgrade databases as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with MongoDB licensing requirements.

Requirements:

  • At least 2+ years of experience as a manager and 8+ years of senior DBA position working with MongoDB technology.
  • Experience managing medium-sized teams of 4-10 DBAs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conceptualize and reason through complex problems.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with MongoDB Atlas, Ops Manager, and Docker MongoDB Images on Linux Box.
  • Knowledge of audit, security, and encryption at rest.
