Skilled Tradesperson

SARJU ENTERPRISE LTD. is seeking a skilled tradesperson to join our team as a carpenter. The ideal candidate will have a secondary (high) school graduation certificate and 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in the trade.

Work Site Environment

The successful candidate will work at heights, in confined spaces, in noisy and dusty environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems.
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware.
• Instruct apprentices.
• Supervise other workers.
• Estimate costs and materials.
• Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments.

Support for Newcomers and Refugees

The successful candidate will support the social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees, including facilitating access to community resources, language training, skills training, etc.

Support for Youths

The successful candidate will offer mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for youth.

Support for Indigenous People

The successful candidate will offer mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.

Support for Visible Minorities

The successful candidate will offer mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees.

The work term is permanent, with 35 hours per week. The work language is English.
