About Us

mello is a pioneering start-up backed by Y Combinator (S21) that revolutionizes employee wellbeing. Our mission is to empower remote teams to work healthier, more sustainably, and maintain their mellow state.

As second-time founders who experienced burnout during the pandemic, we recognized the need for a seamless wellbeing solution integrated into our workflow. Since no suitable option existed, we decided to create one ourselves.

We're building the new standard for remote and hybrid companies to track, measure, and act on burnout. mello suggests actionable strategies for employees, managers, and HR to enhance wellbeing, productivity, and retention.

About this Role

This exciting opportunity is perfect for a seasoned Full-Stack Engineer with expertise in all aspects of development. At mello, you'll be responsible for both frontend UI elements and backend services, ensuring scalability from 1000 to 1 million users.

  • You will design, develop, and maintain frontend UI components and experiences, as well as integrate and modify backend services as needed.
  • You will guarantee the app's ability to scale seamlessly.
  • You will contribute to defining our engineering values, process, and deployment cadence, prioritizing scalability and security.

Required Technical Skills and Qualifications

  • IAM/OAuth (e.g., AWS Cognito, Okta)
  • Frontend frameworks like React.js (Hooks preferred), Vue.js
  • In-depth CSS knowledge (SCSS, Sass)
  • 3rd party integrations experience with OAuth, SDKs (AWS SDK), and API backends (BFF)
  • Developing, improving, and fixing custom API backends as required
  • SPA cloud deployment (AWS S3/Amplify, Netlify, Firebase) - a plus
  • Experience with Database ORB - a plus

What You'll Be Doing

  • Designing and developing modern frontend applications using React.js (Hooks), Vue.js, and Gatsby - familiarity with analytics is a plus.
  • Implementing OAuth flows and integrating 3rd party services.
  • Deploying frontend applications using AWS Amplify, Netlify, or Firebase.
  • Guiding the team's technical direction on data fetching and caching strategies.
  • Ensuring secure software development and protecting user information.

Job Details

This part-time contract position offers up to 30 hours per week, with a competitive salary range of $100,000 - $150,000 USD annually.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (desired)

Experience

  • 2+ years of full-stack development experience (required)
