Job Description
Your mission is to provide safe, patient-centered care with a focus on excellence. As a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN), you will impact the following ways:
  • Providing nursing care within the scope of the RPN practice.
  • Using sound nursing principles to ensure excellent care is delivered to all residents in assigned home area(s).
  • Ensuring safekeeping of controlled drugs and narcotics.
  • Creating a safe and comfortable environment that respects residents' privacy, dignity, autonomy, independence, and personal values and lifestyle.
  • Participating in care planning and supporting residents to meet their goals by adhering to their care plan.
  • Exercising sound judgment and not being shy from engaging charge nurse for support.
  • Collaborating with all stakeholders to foster an atmosphere conducive to optimal care.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the Provincial health regulatory College.
  • Current First Aid with CPR.
  • Previous experience with geriatric population preferred; knowledge of behavioral support programs, dementia care, and rehabilitation an asset.
  • Proven experience in leading unregulated care providers.
  • Basic computer proficiency to be able to use onsite documentation tools.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant Federal, Provincial, and Municipal Statutes which influence the operation of the Nursing Home and more specifically the nursing department.
