Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Counselling Therapist - Mental Health Specialist to join our team. As a Counselling Therapist, you will work with clients to address psychosocial problems related to injury, trauma, and mental illness. You will adopt a goal-focused, therapeutic approach to alleviate distress and improve social and occupational functioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide counselling services to clients referred privately, by employers, by various insurance companies, and other third-party organizations.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans to address clients' mental health needs.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences to discuss clients' treatment plans and progress.
  • Deliver quality reporting and effective communication with all stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Registered with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists.
  • Minimum Master's Degree in a counselling-related field such as Counselling, Psychology, or Social Work.
  • Experience in case conceptualization and treatment of a range of mental health symptoms with a variety of adult clients.
  • Knowledge of psychological management of chronic pain and concussive syndrome an asset.
  • Training and experience with cognitive behavioural therapy approaches (e.g., CBT, ACT, CPT).
  • Experience working as part of a multi/interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, solid judgement, and integrity.
