About the Role

At Irving Oil Ltd., we're seeking a highly skilled Strategic Enterprise Architect and Solution Developer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to leverage their expertise in business and application architecture to drive strategic initiatives and deliver innovative solutions.

Job Summary
  • We are offering a competitive salary of $140,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, pension plan, and paid vacation time.
About You

You will be responsible for leading and supporting enterprise-wide architecture activities, translating business and technical requirements into architectural blueprints, and collaborating with stakeholders to drive targeted business outcomes. To succeed in this role, you will have a proven track record of delivering presentations to senior-level executives and technical audiences, as well as experience developing architecture blueprints, strategies, and roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Translate business and technical requirements into architectural blueprints to achieve business objectives.
  2. Develop a deep understanding of business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) to determine corresponding enterprise solution designs and change requirements.
  3. Maintain a current-state solution portfolio to identify deficiencies through aging of technologies used by applications or misalignment with business requirements.
  4. Support product managers in end-of-life product decisions to maintain, refresh, or retire services or systems, including applications, technologies, processes, and information.
  5. Develop a roadmap for the evolution of the enterprise solution portfolio from current to future state, as defined by the solutions architecture.
  6. Work closely with the project management office (PMO) to ensure execution of plans corresponds with what is being promised throughout the project or product lifecycle.
  7. Provide consulting support to application architects to ensure the project or product aligns with the overall enterprise architecture.
  8. Define principles, guidelines, standards, and solution patterns to ensure solution decisions are aligned with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, system analysis, or a related field.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in at least two IT solution development disciplines, prioritizing on business and application architecture.
  • Experience developing architecture blueprints, strategies, and roadmaps.
  • Knowledge of various aspects of a technology architecture like integration, network, and security.
  • Understanding and knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies (such as waterfall, agile software development, rapid prototyping, incremental, synchronize and stabilize, and DevOps).
  • Understanding and knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
  • Understanding and knowledge of architecture framework such as TOGAF.
  • Knowledge of different modeling languages (such as BPMN and ArchiMate).
  • Experience and understanding of Enterprise Architecture tools and repositories.
