Job Title: General Helper: Kitchen

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented General Helper to join our kitchen team at the Diavik Diamond Mine. As a General Helper, you will be responsible for assisting the kitchen staff in meal preparations, cleaning and sanitizing service utensils and equipment, and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the food service areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the kitchen staff in meal preparations and food handling
  • Clean and sanitize service utensils, flatware, and china
  • Maintain the general cleanliness of the food service areas, including the kitchen, dining room, and service islands
  • Adhere to Territorial and Federal sanitation practices
  • Practice sanitation and safety daily and throughout the shift
  • Attend all scheduled training sessions and safety meetings

Requirements:

  • Current WHMIS and Level 1 Food Safe certificates
  • Knowledge of the safe and efficient operation of equipment within the Food Service area of operations
  • Understanding of the proper use of all cleaning chemicals in the Food Service areas of operations and safety precautions necessary while using these products
  • Familiarity with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to work with the public
  • Proven ability to work as a team player, ability to work well with others and on own
  • Proven punctuality and ability to work 12 hour shifts

Additional Requirements:

  • Proof of COVID-19 immunizations required
  • Pick-up point for this position is limited to the Northwest Territories and Edmonton, AB
