About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced East Market Trader to join our team at TransAlta. As a key member of our trading team, you will be responsible for maintaining a strategic focus on Eastern Power Markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve an annual profit and loss target of $2-$5 million.
- Manage a Value at Risk (VaR) allocation of up to $1 million, ensuring effective risk management and mitigation.
- Conduct in-depth analysis for new business lines and structured transactions, identifying opportunities for growth and expansion.
- Generate trade ideas in power and gas markets, leveraging your expertise and market knowledge to drive business results.
- Provide backup support for the Manager as needed, ensuring seamless continuity of operations.
Requirements
- Proven track record of success in trading and risk management, with a strong understanding of Eastern Power Markets.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of adaptability and flexibility.
