Simulation Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Simulation Technician to join our team at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. The successful candidate will provide technical support for simulation technology and scenario development for the Simulation Learning Centre (SLC).

• Collaborate with SLC staff and faculty to determine appropriate simulation technology applications for programs and orientate other faculty and staff on the delivery of technology within the simulation centre.
• Work directly with faculty to deliver and monitor simulation events/scenarios, and provide technical support for simulations developed for Nursing, Health Science and other programs.
• Collaborate with faculty and Learning Technologies for the development of virtual simulation needs and opportunities.
• Assist with the preparation of purchase requests for equipment and supplies specific to simulation, and maintain stock of items for SLC simulation events.
• Establish and maintain working relationships with counterparts from other educational institutions, simulation lab professionals, vendors, community representatives, and health industry/education leaders.

• Graduate of a post-secondary health education program (nursing or paramedic preferred) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Two years experience working in a health care setting, health education environment or simulation learning environment.
• Training or experience at the intermediate level in the use of MS Office suite.
• Knowledge of simulation practices and the application of technology in simulation.
• Knowledge of current products and procedures used in health education simulation.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Technical proficiency with electronic and digital medical equipment.
• Effective communication (listening, oral, written) skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively within a team.
• Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
