Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Associate to join our Client Tax department in Vancouver on a 6-month contract. As a Tax Associate, you will work closely with our department manager to adopt and apply all CRA/RQ and IRS regulations and updates, as they relate to our various products for our predominantly Canadian Wealth Management client base.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Regulatory Compliance: Work closely with the department manager to ensure compliance with all CRA/RQ and IRS regulations and updates.
  2. Reconciliation and Reporting: Assist in the maintenance of clean monthly reconciliations of CRA, RQ and IRS remittance control accounts, and participate in US and Canadian cost basis calculations for IRS, CRA and client reporting.
  3. Tax Slip Production: Support the generation of year-end US & Canadian tax slip production and delivery to ensure client filing requirements are met.
  4. Additional Projects: Participate in additional projects and initiatives as assigned.
Requirements
  1. Experience: 3 to 5 years of relevant tax administration experience.
  2. Industry Knowledge: Experience within the securities industry is an asset.
  3. Designation: CPA or accounting designation is considered an asset.
  4. Reporting Knowledge: Working knowledge of all CRA, RQ and IRS reporting and filing obligations related to investment income (T5, T3, T5013, RL3, RL16, RL15, 1042 and 1099, etc.).
  5. Documentation and Filing: Understanding of the documentation requirements and filing processes, as they relate to tax reporting.
  6. Withholding Tax and Reporting: In-depth knowledge of CRA and IRS withholding tax and reporting requirements.
  7. Skills: Advanced excel skills and a knowledge of Broadridge Execlear, Dataphile Desktop, CDS, DTC and Doxium would be considered an asset.
  8. Personal Qualities: Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, with the ability to multitask and work well under pressure. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational skills, with exceptional attention to detail. Strong commitment to professionalism and client service excellence. Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
