Food Service Worker Position

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Food Service Worker to join our team at Health Association Nova Scotia.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals to our residents, ensuring attention to dietary needs and preferences.
  • Portion food items accurately and efficiently.
  • Sanitize tables, work areas, and dishware to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Aid in the preparation of meals, including vegetable and sandwich preparation.
  • Replenish stock in kitchenettes and maintain a well-stocked kitchen.
  • Assist residents with mealtime setup and provide support as needed.
  • Record temperature logs for the dishwasher and kitchenette fridges.
  • Follow safe food handling practices and report any safety hazards.
  • Collaborate with the cook to prepare meals and maintain a positive team environment.
  • Document any changes in resident mood, behavior, or condition.
  • Additional duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Food Handlers Course required (or willingness to obtain)
  • WHMIS training annually
  • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Able to complete the physical demands of the position
  • Experience working with the elderly an asset
