Course Number and Title: MAT244H5S LEC102 – Differential Equations I

Course Description: The course covers ordinary differential equations of the first and second order, including existence and uniqueness, solutions by series and integrals, linear systems of first order, and linearization of non-linear systems. Applications in life and physical sciences are also explored, with topics including power series solutions, boundary value problems, and Fourier series solutions.

Estimated Course Enrollment: 110

Number of Positions: 1

TA Support: 45 hours per tutorial and per semester

Class Schedule: Tuesday 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Thursday 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Sessional Dates of Appointment: January 1, 2025 - April 30, 2025

Salary: CUPE minimum salary rates for a half course (HCE), inclusive of vacation pay, are: Sessional Lecturer I - $9,457.90, Sessional Lecturer II - $10,121.77, and Sessional Lecturer III - $10,362.76.

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related field, completed or nearly complete. Advanced comprehension of the subject matter as evidenced by research activity and/or advanced teaching experience. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrable currency and mastery.
