Job Title: Deputy Crew Chief

Job Summary:

The Deputy Crew Chief is responsible for performing Elementary, Servicing and Maintenance duties in support of the Main Operating Base (MOB). This role requires strong leadership skills, technical knowledge of aircraft systems, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision to other employees, including task assignment and lead the crew/section in all facets of aircraft maintenance.
  • Provide input to crew shift assignment, aircraft maintenance schedule, and selection of aircraft for flight, deployment, and assignment of overtime.
  • Perform First, Second, and Third Level maintenance on aircraft mechanical, structural, and electrical systems and components.
  • Perform aircraft release (ARA) when assigned, trained, qualified, and authorized.
  • Ramp duties include pre/post flight inspection and support, marshalling, parking, towing, fueling/defueling, and installation/removal of required mission equipment and crash and emergency technical response.
  • Perform ground runs of engines and auxiliary power units, where trained, qualified, and authorized.
  • Fly as necessary in support of maintenance, ferry, and deployed operations.
  • Deploy and work at other main operating bases and/or deploy in support of operations at remote sites, mobile repair parties, and ferry flights.
  • Work shift work, as required and/or assigned.
  • Provide on-job-training to other employees.
  • Attend training for trade and professional development and for qualification/certification purposes.
  • Ensure crew/section members complete all assigned training.
  • Remove all debris accumulated by tasks performed and maintain a clean, safe work area. Carry out foreign object debris (FOD) inspections.
  • Ensure hangar, shop, stores, and office areas are clean and swept.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and directives established by the Company.

Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, including power plant, flight controls, dynamic systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, environmental, basic structures, avionic, and power generation and distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of Flight Safety reporting procedures.
  • Knowledge of the Company Quality Systems procedures.
  • Knowledge of corrosion control techniques.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting technical documentation such as maintenance manuals, work packages, drawings, blueprints, and Standard Plant Procedures.
  • Capable of performing Non-destructive Inspection, where trained, qualified, and authorized.
  • Ability to use standard computer programs and such specialized ones as may be necessary in the performance of duties.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license to operate company vehicles and tow tractors.
  • Graduate of a CH149 type maintenance course.
  • Graduate of a recognized aircraft maintenance course or apprenticeship program and hold a current Aircraft Maintenance Engineers license or be qualified as an aircraft aviation technician within the Canadian Armed Forces or equivalent commercial experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in helicopter maintenance is required, of which 2 has been in a supervisory position.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), and Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC- Contract Security Program.
