**Job Summary**
Lac La Ronge Indian Band is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Education Leader to fill the position of Superintendent of Schools – Special Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing Special Education programs and services, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations, and providing leadership and support to school administrators and staff.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Oversee the development and implementation of Special Education programs and services, including curriculum planning and assessment.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations, including the Education Act and the Canadian Human Rights Act.
- Provide leadership and support to school administrators and staff, including Principals, Resource Teachers, and Tutor's.
- Coordinate and facilitate professional development opportunities for staff, including in-service training and workshops.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes and achievement, including data-driven decision making and collaborative problem-solving.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, including parents, guardians, and community organizations.
- Develop and manage budgets and resources to support Special Education programs and services.
- Ensure that all Special Education programs and services are culturally sensitive and responsive to the needs of Indigenous students.
**Requirements**
- Master's degree in Education or a related field, with a focus on Special Education.
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience, preferably in Special Education.
- Resource room experience.
- Experience in working with budgeting and financial management.
- Strong elementary and/or secondary school administrator experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of school board policies, compliance regulations, and relevant legislation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with Indigenous communities.
- Ability to speak Cree language an asset.
- Excellent negotiation and mediation skills.
- Ability to recognize individual learning styles and the characteristics of learners.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, etc.
- Must provide satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Must have Valid Class 5 driver license.
