Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at CRB. As a critical member of the mechanical team, you will provide high-level technical support on all life sciences projects in Canada.

About the Role:

This is a key position within our Mississauga office as we continue to expand our presence in Canada. You will oversee discipline deliverables and budget on small to medium-sized projects, coordinate with internal and external architects, engineers, clients, construction managers, subcontractors, and vendors.

You will be responsible for managing multiple complex tasks, establishing priorities, and directing the work of others on projects. You may act as the mechanical point-of-contact for clients, other disciplines, pre-con services, and help complete project code analysis, plan, and prepare bid/permit/construction deliverables.

Responsibilities:

  • Interface with clients and external partners
  • Plan and direct work, manage a project budget from a mechanical design perspective on small to medium-sized projects of limited complexity
  • Work with a Project Manager to proposal development, man-hour planning, project scheduling for the mechanical scope of work on intermediate level projects
  • Identify basic non-compliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys
  • Develop construction drawing packages and write construction specifications on intermediate projects of limited complexity and with little oversight
  • Lead a team of mechanical engineers/designers in the execution of advanced projects
  • Lead and advanced support of construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development, and construction progress reports
  • Provide mentorship to discipline Mechanical Engineer I and II and/or Designer I and II

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred (alternatively, a Bachelor's in Architectural Engineering with Mechanical Option)
  • 10+ years of experience, preferably in a design firm setting
  • P. Eng. or ability to obtain
  • Advanced experience with performing engineering calculations, and developing and implementing HVAC, mechanical utility, plumbing/drainage fixture, fire protection, and piping systems designs required
  • Advanced experience with the mechanical/plumbing/fire code, and applicable building codes required
  • Advanced experience conducting and leading field surveys of existing conditions and support of field reporting required

Additional Qualifications:

  • Proficiency AutoCAD and Revit is preferred
  • Experience with HVAC design for GMP cleanrooms and biosafety containment is strongly preferred
  • LEED, WELL, or other sustainable design accreditation is preferred
  • Intermediate experience with troubleshooting issues with mechanical systems required
  • Proficient with advanced coordination with construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers is preferred

Salary Information:

The estimated annual salary for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 CAD, depending on experience and qualifications.
