Job Summary
GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Edmonton Fleet Maintenance division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining our fleet of non-garbage vehicles, including Oil Collection Trucks, Hydrovacs, Highway Trucks, and off-road equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnostic work on a wide range of mobile and stationary equipment.
- Complete repairs on all mechanical systems, including engines, transmissions, driveline, brake systems, hydraulic systems, and more.
- Participate in the GFL safety program and ensure compliance with all GFL and Fleet Maintenance safety standards, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure repaired equipment is properly tested for correct performance and operation.
- Utilize excellent organizational skills to complete accurate, legible, and descriptive documentation for all completed repairs.
- Install or fabricate aftermarket equipment and components as assigned.
- Communicate effectively with Shop Foreman, Lead Hand, and Parts Coordinator.
Requirements
- Apprentice or Journeyman Certification.
- Experience with the CVIP Motor Vehicle Inspection Program.
- CVIP certification preferred but not required.
- Insite/JPRO experience preferred.
- Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract required, 1A or 3A Driver's License preferred.
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting abilities on a wide range of machinery and equipment.
