Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Electrical Engineering Professor to join our team at Algonquin College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and guiding students in the field of Electrical Engineering, as well as contributing to the development of curriculum and academic programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and deliver courses in Electrical Engineering, including Industrial Telecommunications, Digital Electronics, Analog and Power Electronics, and other related subjects.
  • Develop and update curriculum to ensure it remains relevant and effective in meeting the needs of students and industry.
  • Provide academic leadership and guidance to students, instructors, and part-time professors.
  • Participate in curriculum and consultative committees, and departmental/faculty meetings.
  • Engage in program, department, school, or faculty, and college promotion.
  • Remain current in the field of study and maintain awareness of emerging trends and practices related to teaching and learning in higher education.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, or equivalent, preferably in a postsecondary setting.
  • Minimum 5 years practical experience related to the field of study.
  • Strong understanding of Industrial Telecommunications and Electrical Principles, Operation and use of lab test equipment, including digital scopes and spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience in applying engineering to real-world problems in building electrical systems, telecommunications and data networking, and related fields.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student success strategies in a postsecondary setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of educational technologies.
  • Demonstrated provision of academic leadership.
  • Highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced diploma (3 years) in Electrical Engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline/field.
  • P.Eng designation.
  • Graduate degree.
  • Ontario College Graduate Certificate.
  • CET designation in an electrical discipline or a Certificate of Qualification in an electrical skilled trade.
