We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Technician to join our team at Everguard Fire Safety. As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, modifying, programming, and servicing fire alarm and fire protection systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, specifications, schematics, and operational/product manuals to ensure accurate installation and maintenance of fire alarm systems.
- Install, test, and commission fire alarm systems, including racking up panels, running wiring/cabling, and installing devices and conduit.
- Work with Emergency Lighting and Monitoring Systems to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
- Evaluate plans, customer requests, code, and non-conformance issues to determine specific solutions and recommendations for customers and management.
- Troubleshoot fire alarm, fire suppression, and sprinkler systems troubles and concerns, conducting investigations to identify and resolve issues.
- Prepare stock materials for daily execution of assigned work orders and optimize material utilization to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
- Support take-offs and prepare proposals/quotations as required, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of services.
- Complete daily reports of completed work orders and activities, ensuring accurate documentation and record-keeping.
- Ensure safe work practices are followed, demonstrating safety leadership in all aspects of the job.
- Mentor other team members, including apprentices and field service labor, to promote knowledge sharing and skill development.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call/call-out emergency service, responding promptly to emergency situations and providing critical support to customers.
- Ability to safely execute high-quality work on-time, with a focus on professionalism and customer service.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with team members and independently as needed.
- Ability to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Knowledge of relevant fire codes and standards, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical and effective manner.
- Completed training in various fire alarm systems, such as Siemens, Autocall, Simplex, Edwards, and Notifier, would be an asset.
- Valid Driver's License and ability to travel to and work out of remote client sites, with flexibility in hours of work required.
- A minimum of 2+ years' field experience servicing and maintaining fire alarm systems across various industries, with a college/trade level education in Electronics or Fire Protection Technology, and applicable fire service certifications, jurisdictional regulatory permits, and/or valid CFAA and ASTTBC.
We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, including a salary range of $25.00 to $34.00 an hour, 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 4:30pm, with on-call, overtime, and evening/weekend work sometimes required. Group benefits with regards to medical and dental are available on a cost share with the Company, as well as vacation time.
