Job Summary:

The Civil Construction Labourer plays a vital role in the successful completion of North America Construction Ltd. construction projects. This individual will be heavily involved in the construction process, responsible for tasks such as material handling, general clean-up, light scaffold erection, stripping of formwork, site maintenance, and excavation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare work areas for installation, performing all necessary excavation preparation, including slope and elevation determination.
  • Perform required excavations to create trenches using equipment or manual digging.
  • Perform site preparation and clean-up duties.
  • Manually or using equipment, place materials accurately and according to drawings.
  • Assist with the placement and stripping of formwork as required.
  • Backfill trenches with required materials upon completion of the job.
  • Provide manual labour assistance as needed.
  • Maintain organizational services, facilities, and equipment.
  • Engage in all forms of labouring to assist in the successful completion of construction projects from start to finish.
  • Tend to and operate a variety of machines and equipment necessary for the job, including light excavation equipment.
  • Perform work in accordance with all organizational, provincial, and federal health and safety standards and legislation, ensuring the highest standard of safety is upheld.
  • Perform daily site assessments, including identification of potential work site hazards.
  • Assist site tradespeople as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in the construction industry is preferred.
  • Experience with wood and advanced formwork systems and occasional concrete placement.
  • Basic power tool knowledge.
  • Concrete finishing experience is an asset.
  • Concrete demolition experience.
  • Some light rigging and hoisting experience.
  • Ability to read basic drawings is an asset.
  • Ability to take and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent attendance and attitude.
  • Knowledge of safe operation of tools.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
  • Heavy lifting may be required.
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Valid WHMIS, Elevated/Aerial Work Platform, Health and Safety Awareness Training for Workers, and Working at Heights/Fall Arrest certificates are required.
