Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Health Care Food Service Supervisor to join their team at Vancouver General Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily food services, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for staff, patients, residents, families, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure diet orders are compliant and meet the provisions for nutritional care as determined by Clinical Nutrition for inpatients and outpatients.
  • Act as a liaison between Clinical Nutrition and Food Services, visiting patients to obtain diet-related information and consulting with the Clinical Dietitian as required.
  • Identify patient/resident food preferences, tolerances, and acceptances.
  • Chart activities in patient/resident medical records, including meal intake, diet, and diet-related information.
  • Input and/or update patient/resident diet and diet-related information into a computerized system.
  • Oversee daily food service in assigned areas, supervising designated staff, maintaining and updating manual and computerized records, and performing related administrative duties.
  • Promote and maintain excellent customer relations and effective on-going communication with all levels of staff.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Graduation from a recognized two-year program in Food Service Supervision plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Food Safe Certificate 1.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to supervise.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
