Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit team at Fraser Health. As a critical care nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients, including diagnosing actual or potential problems and strengths, and developing interventions to address them.
- Collect information from various sources, using skills of observation, communication, and physical assessment, to enable the provision of appropriate nursing care.
- Communicate and consult with members of the healthcare team about patient care, participate in multidisciplinary conferences, and explain the plan of care to patients and their families.
- Act as an advocate to protect and promote patients' rights to autonomy, respect, privacy, dignity, and access to information.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and research by identifying patient care issues and collecting data.
- Participate in the orientation and ongoing education of nursing staff and students, providing information and acting as a preceptor as appropriate.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff by adhering to established safety and emergency practices and procedures.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A graduate degree in nursing from an approved school of nursing.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Completion of Critical Care Level 2 course, plus one year's Cardiac Surgery experience or two years' recent experience in critical care in an acute care facility and one year recent Cardiac Surgery experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current Basic Rescuer Certificate.
