The role involves designing, deploying, and maintaining robust data management systems and software applications that enable rapid access, interpretation, and action on information. This requires collaboration with various departments to translate business requirements into reliable reporting solutions.

This is an onsite role at our office in Richmond, BC, with limited remote work opportunities. You must be located in or willing to relocate to the Lower Mainland.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and deploy data management systems and software applications for internal use.
  • Translate project and business requirements into data schemas and software functional requirements.
  • Create secure connections between enterprise software systems and data sources using APIs and data pipelines.
  • Implement ETL processes to transform raw data into consumable formats.
  • Maintain and optimize systems, ensuring resilience, scalability, and security.
  • Communicate design choices and challenges to teams with varying technical backgrounds.
  • Contribute to team development through mentoring junior developers and improving practices and standards.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and emerging technologies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering.
  • Expertise in relational databases, including Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Proficiency in coding tools, especially Python, node.js, Git, and Docker.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC principles and best practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and sense of urgency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting/debugging skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies (AWS/Azure).
  • Time series data experience is an asset.
