About the Role:

Alberta Health Services is seeking a highly skilled Therapy Assistant to join our team at the I CAN Centre at the Glenrose Hospital. As a Therapy Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with complex assistive technology needs in the areas of alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), power mobility, computer/tablet access for reading, writing, and gaming, and electronic aids to daily living (EADL).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to patients in direct therapy sessions, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist or Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Assist with patient transfers, wheelchair/seating/mounting adjustments, and other non-patient related tasks.
  • Maintain I CAN equipment, manage equipment inventory, process patient equipment funded by AADL/NHIB, and maintain shipping/receiving records.
  • Communicate with vendors and manufacturer representatives, prepare materials, and perform cleaning duties.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training.
  • Experience with trouble-shooting, set-up, maintenance, and programming of assistive technology.
  • Knowledge and experience with iOS and Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft 365.
  • Knowledge and experience with inventory software, AADL, 3D design and printing, splinting, and equipment modifications.
