We are seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer, you will work on various projects of different sizes, owning the engineering of regular designs and assisting with advanced designs under the guidance of a Senior Engineer.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Support project teams in developing design documentation, plans, and reports for relevant project design elements.
  • Assist in the development of designs through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Prepare and revise documentation in various project phases.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
  • Assist in reviewing shop drawings and submittals, respond to requests for information, prepare site observation reports, and perform other contract administration tasks.
  • Assist with the development of job-specific discipline specifications.
  • Assist in evaluating and selecting mechanical equipment and materials.
  • Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members, external consultants, and clients.
  • Participate in value engineering and basic cost estimating.
  • Perform calculations to analyze and design mechanical systems using company-standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of mechanical systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards for a mining environment.
  • Understanding of all phases of engineering document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Able to recognize technical problems and initiate corrective actions using sound professional judgment.
  • Ability to check others' work for accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Able to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Able to interpret sketches, drawings, and other similar materials.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with CAD design software is considered a benefit.
  • Takes initiative on tasks and coordinates with other design team members.
  • Effectively discusses project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.
  • Professional Engineering membership with one of Canada's provincial associations.
