Senior FX Valuation Strategist

In a major banking institution, our client is seeking an experienced Senior FX Valuation Strategist to lead their team in Toronto. This role offers a 12-month contract with potential for extension and a hybrid work arrangement of 2 days onsite.
The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of FX valuation experience, preferably in a financial institution, and expertise in market risk valuation. They should have a solid understanding of commodity and FX derivative products and markets, as well as the valuation and risk management methodologies associated with these.
The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring that valuations for trading and underwriting portfolios are accurate and up-to-date. They will review and assess valuation models, identify official sources of market data, and manage relationships across the organization.
The key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing policies and procedures for independent checking of valuations and escalation of exceptions.
- Promoting best practices for valuation of trading and underwriting portfolios.
- Developing, maintaining, and improving valuation adjustment policies and procedures in compliance with GAAP/IFRS and regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining communication between lines of business and Model Validation (MV) and Model Governance (MG) regarding the development of new models or changes in the application of existing models.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. They should also have a solid quantitative background and be able to manage and develop subordinates.
This role requires a Bachelor's degree or above in Math or Finance. A competitive salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, is offered. Please note that adherence to our end-client's vaccination policy is a requirement.
