We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Advisor to join our small but mighty legal team at Later. As a key member of our scaling in-house legal department, you will provide practical legal advice on a wide range of legal issues impacting the company. Your expertise will be invaluable in supporting our sales and customer support teams with contract review, interpretation, drafting, and negotiation. You will also collaborate with influencer-facing teams on matters related to influencer content, contracts, and other related matters. Additionally, you will review, interpret, draft, revise, and negotiate vendor contracts, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Your strong analytical and problem-solving skills will be essential in supporting the company on privacy matters and up-leveling legal education in the organization.

Requirements:

  • JD with 3-5 years of experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts
  • Experience in corporate law and other related practice areas
  • In-house counsel experience at a B2B SAAS business is strongly preferred
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in one of the following jurisdictions Ontario and British Columbia
  • Ability to assess and advise on complex contractual issues in a concise and business-minded manner
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced technology environment, actioning efficiently, and managing multiple competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience effectively communicating with all levels of an organization
  • Experience working cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders on diverse projects

Bonus points for:

  • Experience in any of the following practice areas: advertising/marketing law, intellectual property law, privacy law

Our approach to compensation:

We take a market-based & data-driven approach to compensation. We leverage data from trusted third-party compensation sources to help us understand the market value of a role based on function, level, geographic location, and scope. We evaluate compensation bi-annually, including performance and market-related factors.

Our salaries are benchmarked against market Total Cash Compensation for the geographic location of our job posting. Compensation for some roles is structured as On Target Earnings (OTE = base + commission/variable) while for others it is structured as Salary only.

To comply with local legislation and ensure transparency, we share salary ranges on all job postings. Skills, experience and other factors help determine the final salary we offer which may vary from the original range posted.

Additionally, all permanent team members are granted stock options and are eligible to participate in various benefits plans as part of their overall compensation package.

Salary Range:

$120,000-$135,000 CAD
