Kitchen Helper Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Kitchen Helper to join our team at It's All Greek To Me. As a Kitchen Helper, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our kitchen, ensuring that our dishes are washed and sanitized, and supporting our culinary team in food preparation and presentation.

Responsibilities:
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces
  • Load and unload dishwashers, buspans, and trays
  • Operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware, and flatware
  • Place dishes in storage areas and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
  • Assist with food preparation, including washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruits
  • Support the culinary team in food presentation and plating
  • Keep records of food quantities used and maintain inventory
  • Stock refrigerators and salad bars with fresh ingredients
  • Remove kitchen garbage and trash, and maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment
  • Sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
  • Fast-paced environment with a high level of physical activity
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects
  • Ability to stand for long periods and work in a hot kitchen environment
Support for Newcomers and Refugees:
  • Assist with immediate settlement needs, including housing, transportation, and storage
  • Support social and labor market integration through language training, skills training, and mentorship programs
  • Recruit and support newcomers and refugees who were displaced by conflict or natural disaster
Support for Indigenous People:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with indigenous communities and organizations
  • Provide cultural competency training and awareness to create a welcoming work environment
  • Facilitate access to Elders for support and guidance
