Accounting and Assurance Role
BTA is seeking a Senior Accounting Professional to join our Assurance & Accounting team. As a leading national accounting, tax and business advisory firm in Canada, we provide business strategies and solutions to our clients. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping and tax engagements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Set-up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses, manage multiple files simultaneously and conduct inventory counts to maintain efficiency.
- Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset acquisition and disposition and payroll walk-through with clients to provide expert guidance.
- Summarize clients' current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statements and other relevant reports to inform business decisions.
- Assess and assure appropriateness of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, capital asset additions, accounts payable, accounts receivable and prepaid expenses to maintain financial integrity.
- Review, investigate and correct discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents and reports to ensure accuracy.
- Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting to accounts to maintain financial records.
- Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts and highlights to communicate effectively with clients.
- Develop effective working relationships with clients while coaching and mentoring junior team members to foster growth and development.
- Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities to drive growth and success.
- Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary, to meet client needs and expand business opportunities.
Requirements and Qualifications
- CPA designation to ensure expertise and knowledge in accounting principles.
- 2 to 4 years of relevant public accounting experience to provide a strong foundation in accounting practices.
- Extensive knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Experience working with accounting and tax software to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles to provide expert guidance and support.
