Job Summary:

Mon Sheong Foundation is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Housekeeping Aide to join our team at Mon Sheong Home For The Aged. As a Housekeeping Aide, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our residents, staff, and visitors.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Clean and disinfect residents' rooms, including dusting, polishing, and vacuuming;
  • Dust and clean window ledges, door frames, and closets;
  • Perform daily and monthly cleaning of glass surfaces as needed;
  • Clean and disinfect countertops, tables, and chairs, as well as disinfect all spills and soils;
  • Vacuum all carpets as required;
  • Clean and disinfect washrooms throughout the Home;
  • Clean and polish tubs, sinks, taps, toilets, and mirrors;
  • Wash all floors with germicidal solution and clean grout regularly;
  • Dust and mop lounge areas daily, and sweep and mop dining room floors after each meal;
  • Do laundry for all residents, including personal clothing and linens;
  • Follow up on reports of lost clothing and take action as needed;
  • Clean staff lockers and volunteer and staff rest rooms;
  • Sweep and wash stairwells weekly;
  • Empty garbage to the janitor/soiled room and change plastic liners as needed;
  • Clean wheelchairs according to assigned schedule;
  • Follow procedures for cleaning and caring for equipment;
  • Responsible for inventory and control of laundry supplies and products;
  • Communicate with the charge nurse regarding special care of linens or clothing;
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent;
  • Ability to work with the elderly;
  • Ability to operate laundry equipment;
  • Bilingual in Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) is a definite asset.
