The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Program Manager - Building Services to join our growing team. As a key member of our Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) department, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing health and safety standards across our Building Services division.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of health and safety programs and procedures for the Building Services division, ensuring alignment with company-wide HSE policies and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Building Services Operations and Site Management teams to ensure effective execution of health and safety initiatives across all sites.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers on health and safety matters related to field operations, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
- Conduct regular reviews of health and safety procedures to ensure ongoing effectiveness and compliance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
- Oversee audits of service sites to ensure adherence to internal and external health and safety protocols, analyzing injury data to inform the development of targeted safety programs.
- Promote a positive safety culture through engagement with the services workforce, fostering a culture of open communication, transparency, and accountability.
- Provide guidance and support to Building Services Operations teams on health and safety matters, including training programs, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance.
- Evaluate employee safety behavior and performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and recommending targeted interventions.
- Represent Modern Niagara in meetings with regulatory agencies, ensuring effective communication and collaboration on health and safety matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety or a related field; CRSP certification an asset.
- 5-10 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the construction services/maintenance and facilities environment.
- Proven expertise in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with employees, subcontractors, and stakeholders at all levels.
- Able to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning, with a strong interest in growing a career within the construction industry.
