About the Role

This internship is an exciting opportunity for a student or recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in corporate functions at TD Insurance Direct Agency Inc. As an Indigenous Intern, you will be working closely with our team to support the execution of various projects and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the successful execution of reporting, operational requests, and transactional requests for the business unit and/or client.
  • Conduct analytics and research, and obtain/share internal and external business/market data.
  • Assist with building and reviewing internal models, tools, processes, policies, presentations, and other related materials.
  • Support various initiatives as assigned.
  • Assist teams with designing and building software, applications, etc. according to business requirements, UX designs, and architectural guidelines.

Accountabilities

  • Prioritize and manage own workload to meet SLA requirements for service and productivity.
  • Exercise discretion in managing information and all matters of confidentiality; escalate issues where appropriate.
  • Access systems, understand and apply system capabilities, ensure information is completed timely and accurately.
  • Update and contribute to the preparation of procedural documents in support of day-to-day operations.
  • Evaluate and escalate non-standard or high-risk activities as deemed appropriate.
  • Follow internal and industry regulations and operating practices in completing and recording transactions.
  • Stay knowledgeable and/or aware of industry developments.
  • Acquire and apply expertise in the discipline, provide guidance, assistance, and direction to others.
  • Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high-risk activities as necessary.
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite.

Team Collaboration

  • Participate fully as a member of the team, support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation, and teamwork, and ensure timely communication of issues/points of interest.
  • Support the team by continuously enhancing knowledge/expertise in own area and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit.

  • Keep others informed and up-to-date about the status/progress of projects and/or all relevant or useful information related to day-to-day activities.

Scope and Impact

  • Work within generally defined guidelines, accountable for completing a range of transactions or activities that involve single to multiple steps and several systems or applications.
  • Transactions and activities require process knowledge for own area of expertise and could be characterized by low to moderate risk.
  • Take a broad perspective to identify and resolve issues that are atypical, infrequent, or not covered by stated processes.
  • Typically have interaction with internal customers/partners.
  • Focus of work is on the completion of day-to-day or weekly processes or activities, however, may include monthly routine activities.
  • Complete work with limited degree of supervision.
  • Requires full proficiency gained through job-related training to perform a range of duties, and has working-level knowledge of the business unit/operational functions as well as regulatory issues/requirements for jurisdictions supported.
