About Our Opportunity

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Program Admin Officer in our Business Development team. As a critical member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering business development programs on behalf of Tourism Nova Scotia by administering, delivering, and promoting business development programs, initiatives, and projects.

You will work closely with stakeholders from other provincial and municipal government departments and sector organizations to establish and maintain positive professional relationships. Your primary accountabilities will include contributing to the creation of new programs, consulting and advising on program objectives, guidelines, and implementation processes, and managing individual files throughout the life cycle of agreements.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a constantly changing global tourism environment, adapting to new circumstances and contributing to new programming. You will also be responsible for providing coaching to help tourism businesses and organizations build capacity and enhance their business readiness.

We are looking for a candidate with a post-secondary degree and one year of related experience. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective relationships with a variety of internal and external clients. You will also have the ability to exercise good judgment and initiative, acting independently on inquiries and making decisions where circumstances align with program standards.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Contributes to the creation of new programs, including performing research and jurisdictional scans on potential program opportunities.
  • Consults and advises on the development of program objectives, guidelines, and implementation processes.
  • Interviews, counsels, and assesses applicant eligibility for various Tourism Nova Scotia programs.
  • Advises on improving processes to support effective program delivery and implementation.
  • Manages priorities and works effectively to reach expected service standards for clients.
  • Conducts logistics for industry outreach programs, including planning, promotion, venue hosting, registration, industry communications, evaluation, and follow-up.
  • Coordinates the implementation of program recommendations with staff, stakeholders, and program users through the development of program plans, reviewing and updating programs, and with program evaluation.
Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have a post-secondary degree and one year of related experience. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective relationships with a variety of internal and external clients. You will also have the ability to exercise good judgment and initiative, acting independently on inquiries and making decisions where circumstances align with program standards.
