Job Description
The pharmacy technician will be responsible for ensuring accuracy of prepared medication, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service. The technician will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and to promote a culture of safety and quality within the organization. The technician will also be responsible for accurately counting and reconciling narcotic and controlled medications, checking products in an organized and efficient manner to maintain workflow and ensure delivery routes leave at their scheduled times. Patient privacy and confidentiality will be protected in accordance with regulations. The technician will also be required to keep current with and align with legal requirements, professional standards, and workplace policies and procedures. Furthermore, the technician will commit to promoting a workplace of inclusiveness and belonging.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, the candidate must possess a license and registration with the College of Pharmacists as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT), in good standing. Liability insurance to legally practice as a RPhT is also required. A minimum of 1 year of continuous working experience in a pharmacy environment (Long Term Care, Hospital, or Retail) is necessary, with experience working with high volume filling environments being preferred. The candidate must also possess effective written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, excellent organizational and multitasking skills, attention to detail, complete work with minimal supervision, teammate and leadership skills, and bilingual (English/French) abilities.
