The Opportunity:

Maple Leaf Foods Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Automation Manager to join their team. As a key member of the Heritage facility, this individual will be responsible for developing and implementing the Automation strategy, ensuring seamless integration of systems, and driving process optimization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the Automation strategy, aligning with the company's vision and goals.
  • Lead and support the Automation team to ensure effective system integration and process optimization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Manage and maintain control systems, including PLC, PC, HMI, MES, SCADA, and Robotics.
  • Develop and implement change control systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure timely delivery of services and support.
  • Develop and maintain a facility controls and electrical build standard, aligning with corporate engineering standards.
  • Work with reliability area leaders to establish programs for mentoring and developing reliability support teams.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to team members, ensuring effective troubleshooting and resolution of equipment-related issues.
  • Maintain equipment-level network systems, aligning with corporate IS protocols and requirements.
  • Manage and support facility MES/SCADA systems, ensuring seamless integration and data accuracy.
  • Maintain OEM support contact lists and VPN connectivity, ensuring timely access to technical support.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering, or a combination of 15 years of progressive manufacturing operations, equipment/system commissioning/verification knowledge, and project execution experience.
  • Experience in engineering change control processes, design reviews, and level 2 control systems, such as SCADA and MES.
  • Experience in implementing and integrating robotics, instrumentation, and other control systems.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a proven history of solving complex problems, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, providing training/project coaching, building excellence in teams, and motivating others to achieve results.
  • Must be a data-driven decision-maker, with a proven track record as an influential leader within an organization.
