Career Opportunity: Mental Health Therapist

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Counselling Therapist to join our team at pt Health. As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will work with a diverse adult population to address psychosocial problems related to injury, trauma, and mental illness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide evidence-based counselling services to clients, adopting a goal-focused, therapeutic approach to alleviate distress and improve social and occupational functioning.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences to discuss clients' treatment plans and goals, progress made, and any barriers to treatment.
  • Deliver high-quality reporting and effective communication with all stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Registered with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists
  • Minimum Master's Degree in a counselling-related field such as Counselling, Psychology, or Social Work
  • Experience in case conceptualization and treatment of a range of mental health symptoms with a variety of adult clients.
  • Knowledge of psychological management of chronic pain and concussive syndrome an asset.
  • Training and experience with cognitive behavioural therapy approaches (e.g., CBT, ACT, CPT).
  • Experience working as part of a multi/interdisciplinary team.
  • Experience preparing assessment, progress, and discharge reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, solid judgement, and integrity.
