Electrical Technical Buyer Job Description

At CO_65 Bird Industrial Management Services Ltd., we are seeking an experienced Electrical Technical Buyer to join our team. As a key member of our purchasing department, you will be responsible for managing the buying process for electrical goods and materials, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the buying process for electrical goods and materials, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating prices, and terms of business.
  • Conduct market research to identify opportunities for cost reduction and improve product knowledge.
  • Create and review technical scope of work documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Balance tactical executions with strategic initiatives to drive cost reduction projects.
  • Participate in supplier performance reviews and ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers.
  • Negotiate contracts, improved prices, and terms of business with suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies, and procedures during supplier negotiations and contracts award process.
Requirements:
  • SCMP designation or registered in the SCMP program would be an asset, or
  • Professional Engineer in the technical field, or
  • Journeyman tradesman with 10+ years of experience, or
  • 5+ years experience working for a major electrical distribution company
  • Highly skilled at building and maintaining effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
  • Analytical, numerically astute with strong proven problem identification and solution abilities.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.
  • Technically, commercially, and financially aware.
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
