Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Derivatives Accounting Specialist to join our team at WGL in the United States. As a Senior Analyst, Asset and Risk Management, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our derivatives accounting.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Review and validate commodity and complex contracts for proper accounting treatment under FASB ASC Topic 815 (Derivatives and Hedging).
  2. Prepare monthly mark-to-market entries, including validation of routine and complex derivatives calculations.
  3. Develop and maintain effective internal controls to ensure compliance with ICFR and risk management policies and procedures.
  4. Collaborate with commercial and risk teams to identify contracts requiring review in a timely manner.
  5. Settle financial trades, including OTC and exchange transactions, in the system of record.
  6. Assist with quarterly and annual external audits and provide reports as requested to External and Internal Audit.
Requirements:
  1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a comparable role within a public company.
  2. Strong understanding of internal accounting controls and SOX guidelines.
  3. Proficiency in derivatives accounting is highly desirable.
  4. Experience in overseeing risk management is a significant advantage.
