Academic and Operations Director Position

The University of Toronto Faculty Association seeks a highly skilled and experienced Operations Director to join their team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for managing the administrative services, information services, and staff of the Association.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the administrative services, including unionized staff, communications, office systems, and events.
  • Ensure that services provided to the Executive Officers, Members of Council, and Association Members are of the highest quality.
  • Consult on matters of objectives and policy, and establish methods and procedures consistent with these objectives.
  • Manage sensitive and confidential employee and labour relations information involving members of the Association and members of CUPE 1281.

Requirements:

  • University advanced degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in information management, management, and administration.
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal, communication, leadership, and organizational skills and experience, including management and supervisory experience ideally in a union setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, and collaboratively with elected officers and with staff.
  • Demonstrated project management, planning skills, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, conceptual, and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrate a high level of confidentiality in accessing and managing sensitive and confidential employee and labour relations information.
  • Exercise excellent initiative, tact, discretion, professionalism, and good judgment while working in a diverse environment.
  • Possess an in-depth understanding of and experience with information systems, including database management systems and document management systems, and their application to the UTFA environment.
  • Possess the appropriate level of computer and technological literacy, including website and communication technology management.
