Job Title: Personal Care Attendant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Personal Care Attendant to join our team at Central Health Newfoundland. As a Personal Care Attendant, you will provide high-quality care and support to patients and residents who require assistance with daily living activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care and support to patients and residents, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, including lifting and moving patients
  • Prepare and serve meals and snacks, as needed
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to patients and residents
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and develop care plans
  • Perform other related duties as required

Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development
  • Graduation from a personal care attendant program approved by Central Health
  • Current BLS certification
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL Health Services: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (I CARE)
  • A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position
  • A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority

Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and must be able to lift and move patients as required. The position also requires working in a physically demanding environment, with frequent standing, walking, and bending.
