Estimator Job Summary

PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for leading small to medium estimates and reviewing associated bid documents. You will conduct detailed analysis of contract documents and specifications to determine and validate project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead estimates and review bid documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of contract documents and specifications to determine project requirements.
  • Ensure completion of quantity take-offs and validate project costs.
  • Support the estimate lead in populating tender forms and generating requests for information.
  • Recognize and mitigate project-specific risks and opportunities.
  • Assist with bid document control and maintain accurate records.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including subtrade partners and suppliers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in a related discipline or trade experience.
  • 4 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating, with 6 months of on-site experience preferred.
  • Successful experience leading pursuits valued at up to $25 million.
  • General construction knowledge and understanding of specifications, drawings, materials, and methods.
  • Intermediate knowledge of bid preparation principles, including quantity takeoff procedures and systems.
  • Understanding of compensation models, market conditions, and business trends.
  • Familiarity with different delivery methods, including hard bid, GMP, and design-build.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
