Job Description
The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) will be responsible for providing clinical excellence and core competencies as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). This individual will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide direct patient care based on the three-factor framework. The RPN will ensure practice is consistent with established hospital policies and procedures, including emergency codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide patient-focused care within the RPN scope of practice, based on the three-factor framework of the CNO
- Collaborate with Registered Nurses (RNs and RPNs) to provide elements of care for patients/clients with complex health issues
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team
Requirements
- RPN diploma from a recognized school of nursing
- RPN Certificate of Registration, in good standing, from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current BLS certification required
- Fundamentals on Oncology course required or willing to obtain within three months of hire date
- Recent experience with Cancer patients preferred
- Recent related experience in acute general medicine nursing preferred
