Job Summary:
The Radiological Technologist plays a vital role in the medical imaging department at Fraser Health, working closely with healthcare professionals to provide high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, observing safe radiation protection practices.
- Receive and complete requisitions from physicians, verifying that they comply with departmental standards and entering relevant data into the radiology information system.
- Prepare patients for examination, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.
- Operate radiographic equipment, processing images and checking their technical quality.
- Assist the Radiologist in fluoroscopic procedures, positioning patients and maintaining sterility of equipment.
- Prepare contrast agents and tray set-ups for procedures, disposing of items according to hospital policy.
- Transport mobile radiographic equipment and supplies, performing radiographic examinations as required.
- Maintain cleanliness of examination rooms, notifying building services of special cleaning requirements.
- Participate in departmental Continuous Quality Improvement/LEAN programs, using established monitoring and auditing methodologies to perform quality assurance checks.
- Set measurable goals and objectives, incorporating the organization's vision and values, goals, and corporate plan.
- Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
- Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with radiology equipment.
- Ability to perform radiographic examinations in compliance with departmental standards.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer literacy to operate a computerized patient care information system.
