Job Description

Mercer Contracting is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and maintenance of our heavy-duty equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.
  • Order parts and maintain inventory.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Keep maintenance reports and documentation.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work.
Requirements:
  • 5 years or more of experience in heavy-duty equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of diesel engine repair specialization, including fuel injection systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, air conditioning systems, lubrication systems, and engine control systems.
  • Experience with powered equipment repair specialization, including cable-operated working attachments, hydraulic-operated working attachments, compressors, pumps, telescopic ladders, electric generators, industrial lift trucks and fork-lifts.
  • Familiarity with mechanical maintenance and repair specialization, including mechanical transmissions, drive trains and final drives, hydraulic transmissions, power take-offs, tracked vehicle suspensions and steering, wheel-mounted vehicle suspension and steering, highway vehicle tires and wheels, off-road vehicle tires and wheels, and differentials.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
