Senior Animal Care Operations Coordinator

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Animal Care Operations Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our animal care operations department, you will be responsible for allocating and managing human resource assignments for animal care and use activities at our facilities.
You will contribute to the success of our research initiatives by liaising with members of our staff, researchers, students, and other departments to ensure that our staff meet institutional needs. You will also assist in ensuring that our animal facility equipment and overall operations are adequate to meet regulatory requirements and promote excellence in animal-based research protocol execution.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing daily task assignments to ensure adequate staffing coverage and smooth operation of our facilities
- Communicating with research teams on upcoming projects to schedule support staff accordingly
- Coordinating daily operations of our vivaria, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
- Scheduling and assigning sanitation and biosecurity/quarantine protocols within our facilities
- Liaising with team leaders and manager of operations to ensure excellent team communication
- Assisting in the assessment of operational efficiency and development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Sound theoretical and practical knowledge of applied veterinary technical and surgical nursing
- Five years of experience managing or supervising activities in an animal research environment
- Experience in human resource policy administration and team/conflict management
- Ability to gain consensus and achieve collaborations
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of standard operational procedures for an animal research facility
- Commitment to client service through excellence in interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work after hours, weekends, and statutory holidays as assigned
