Job Summary


As an Activity Worker 2 with Fraser Health, you will play a vital role in planning and implementing social and recreational programs for residents in Long Term Care. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others and contribute to a dynamic team.



Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare individual and group activities, such as table games, current events, sports activities, music, special events, and community outings.
  • Collaborate with the Recreation Therapist to develop and implement program activities, ensuring resident participation and engagement.
  • Accompany residents on community outings and provide support and assistance as needed.
  • Participate in team conferences, staff meetings, and in-service education to stay up-to-date on best practices and resident care.
  • Organize materials and supplies required for programs and advise the Recreation Therapist of any needs.
  • Access resident comfort funds for outings and shopping, and complete documentation as required.
  • Provide direction and guidance to volunteers during activity programs.
  • Maintain program activity areas and perform other related duties as required.


Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:



  • Grade 12 education and completion of recognized recreational courses.
  • Two years of recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to teach and lead groups.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
