Job Title: ECE Childcare Professional
About Us: We are a team at Tsawout First Nation dedicated to providing high-quality childcare services that cater to the needs of children in our community. Our program is designed to promote learning, growth, and development in a safe and nurturing environment.
Salary: $30/hour
Job Description: As an ECE Childcare Professional, you will be responsible for ensuring the centre meets all legal requirements, including licensing regulations. You will also assist in the development of childcare programs and keep up-to-date on issues relating to program design and delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act, providing a safe environment for children's physical, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Develop and maintain relationships with parents, communicating effectively and dealing with questions or issues that arise.
- Respect confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries with parents, children, and colleagues.
- Monitor children's attendance and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Prepare progress reports and discuss them with parents and staff.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and contribute to program planning and decision-making.
- Maintain a clean and healthy environment, adhering to health and safety protocols.
Requirements:
We are looking for an individual with an Early Childhood Education Diploma or degree, and 1-2 years' related experience. A registered member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Education is essential. Additionally, a Current First Aid/CPR certificate and a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check are required.

- Knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act and legislative compliance
- Experience working with infant to junior children
- Solid understanding of child development
- Demonstrates ability to maintain effective work relationships with families, colleagues, and service providers
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work closely with other team members
- Sensitivity and respect for individual and cultural differences
- Knowledge of First Nations Culture and Language would be an asset
- Adequate energy level and ability to meet the physical demands of the job
