The Senior Building Inspector/Lead Building Inspector will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections, reviewing building plans, and resolving complex issues. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for addressing complex inspection cases.

This is a key role in maintaining high standards for construction quality and safety within the jurisdiction. The successful candidate will be a liaison between the public, construction professionals, and municipal officials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of building inspectors, providing guidance, training, and support.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of complex and high-profile construction projects.
  • Review and approve building plans and specifications.
  • Resolve complex inspection issues and address significant code violations.
  • Prepare and review detailed inspection reports and documentation.
  • Coordinate with other municipal departments and agencies.
  • Stay current with changes in building codes and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Relevant certification or diploma in Building Inspection or a related field.
  • Extensive experience as a building inspector or in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of local building codes and zoning regulations.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and mentoring a team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
